LA Metro’s Digital Resources Librarian and former LA as Subject Executive Chair Kenn Bicknell has been selected as a member of Collective Wisdom: Libraries, Archives, and Museums (LAM) Conference Exchange.
Kenn is one of 18 individuals from across the United States selected to explore cross-sector practices and culture, share insights, and develop recommendations about potential partnerships and collaborations to advance learning across libraries, archives and museums. Participants in this professional leadership opportunity will meet throughout 2016 to strengthen the connections across libraries, archives and museums and help break down barriers between sectors. Members will pool their collective experiences and insights from their diverse backgrounds to explore the continuing education and professional development needs in the United States in the future.
Selection for and participation in the Exchange is a distinctive honor. Kenn is the only member from a government agency, and one of only two members from California. He joins others from institutions that include The Smithsonian Institution, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, University of Michigan, University of Georgia, University of Maryland, University of Oklahoma and Chicago History Museum.
The program is supported by grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the primary federal funding entity for the nation’s 35,000 museums and 123,000 libraries. The project is being administered by OCLC, a global library cooperative that provides shared technology services, original research, and community programs for libraries and leaders in more than 100 countries.
